Kathy Fountaine lives in New York City. She discovered oil painting through an art class and then the pandemic began. Although she is no longer attending a regular art class, she continues oil painting allowing her to grow through her art. This blog is a reflection of what she is learning about art…and life.

Still Can’t Believe It

This summer, I had a few firsts. I enjoyed being part of my first exhibit along with selling my first painting – the one exhibited! And I got to the second round during a bocce tournament.

I painted another painting at a class during my week off. It was part of a class held at the beach club I belong to. I wish I could have taken more classes, but work had beckoned.

I enjoy painting in my little studio at home; however, it’s great to be part of a class. So many artists each with their own unique talent. We encourage each other, appreciate each other’s talent. And we had an art show. Members of the beach club enjoyed looking at the culmination of our talents.

It still feels weird to call myself an artist; I am blessed with the talent, the opportunity, and my first sale!

Summers go so fast – and I always miss them terribly!
